All About Vredestein Tyres

by James Smith

The Vredestein Company was creating rubber products in 1908 and set up the tyre aspect of the company just after World War 2 - a bold move. Being a small manufacturer, the tyres are of a premium quality yet are sold at a much cheaper price to the customer. This is ideal for anyone who wants a fair price and brilliant value for money. Now equipped with state-of-the-art equipment in its Enshede-based premises, thanks to recent heavy investment, Vredestein tyres are able to be offered in a huge variety - a tyre to suit every car. In fact, the Holland-based company specialises in producing winter, summer and all-season tyres.

Vredestein tyres are manufactured for a wide range of vehicles. The summer range includes Hi Trac, Ultrac Suc Sessanta, Ultrac Sessanta, Sportrac 3, Ultrac Cento and T Trac. The winter range offers Comtrac Winter, Showtrac 3, Showtrac, Wintrac 4 Xtreme, Wintrac Xtreme and Showtrac 2. Vredestein's main all-season tyre is the Quatrac 3.

The part of the tyre in contact with the road is called the 'footprint'; you should regularly check this footprint for damage such as cuts, stones, glass, cracks and tread wear. Replacing the tyre is an essential task if any damage is found. Tread pressures are very important to ensure safe driving. Depending on what load you have and the speed you travel your tyre pressure will correspond accordingly. The wrong tyre pressure could cause rapid wear and a shorter life so you must ensure you have the right pressure. Make daily pressure checks. If you think a tyre might be low, try and check it immediately with a gauge and carry a spare tyre with you.

Replacing your tyres at least every six years will make sure your car remains safe. To stay within the law you must change them after ten years of use. The longer you use your tyres will result in them becoming less safe for the car and the driver. Replacing one at a time is not a good idea - this will lead to bad handling. Either replace them in pairs (either front or back) or the best option is to change them all at the same time. Irregular tread wear could indicate deeper problems - so if you come across this you should take your car in for servicing.

The climate in your location affects the choice of tyre you need. Unable to evacuate water during rain, worn tyres result in longer braking distances and uncertain road handling which causes dangerous situations. If you're unsure about whether your tyres are suitable for your car then obtaining a professional opinion is advisable. Keep an eye on the general condition of your tyres and invest in a new set if you think your safety is at risk.
